About the course

Objectives of Mainframe Assessment Essentials course is, to introduce the participants with basic knowledge and skills needed to perform a review of OS/400.

Participants will be able to:

  • Describe mainframe history and characteristics.
  • Describe mainframe architecture, components, processes, file structure and logical access path.
  • Describe and analyze mainframe security.
  • Interpret and set mainframe security files.
  • Describe RACF and analyze RACF reports to determine risks.
  • Describe basic components and concepts zOS process environment.
  • Describe basic processes zOS process environment.
  • Analyze the system for threats and vulnerabilities relative to the RACF program including auditing SETROPTS report, DSMON report, and review of access control to datasets.
